Cornwall Federation Executive Committee
Elected by WI members every two years. The Chairman is elected by Executive members annually.
All Executive members have special responsibilities in the running of the Federation and are Trustees under Charity law and Directors under Company Law
Office and Finance Sub-Committee
Control of all the finances of the Cornwall Federation. It considers the demands on expenditure made by the Executive, the Sub-Committees and the
Officers. It recommends, or otherwise, such expenditure to the Executive Committee for their consideration.
Membership Support Sub-Committee
A team of WI Advisers, plus a few trainees, whose responsibility it is to further the work of the WI in Cornwall. This is achieved by working with WIs,
offering friendship, guidance and support as required. Training sessions are organised for WI Officers and Committee members from time to time.
Encouraging women to become members and promoting the WI generally are important parts of their work.
Activity and Recreation Sub-Committee
Organise events, held throughout the county, which enable members to participate in a wide range of activities, including abseiling, bird watching,
pamper days, dart competitions, rambles and surfing, to name but a few. The aim is to encourage active participation in activities, with something,
hopefully, to suit most members during the year.
Combined Arts Sub-Committee
Singing, acting, dancing, painting, photography, and, if this isn’t enough, what about speaking with confidence? Life is never dull with this Sub-
Committee. They’re brimming with ideas and enthusiasm.
Environment and Public Affairs Sub-Committee
The committee deals with all matters concerning housing, local government, planning, transport, the natural environment, water, sewage, pollution,
welfare of livestock, fisheries and food, the agricultural industry, conservation, health, public and international affairs and ACWW.
Exhibitions Sub-Committee
A largely 'behind the scenes' group of members who plan and set up the Royal Cornwall Show display, Council Meetings and other displays or events as
required.
Floral Art and Gardening Sub-Committee
Encourages members to make full use of their artistic and creative skills in flower arranging, whether beginners or advanced. Demonstrations,
workshops and competitions all prove popular. Informative lectures are also available for the avid gardener.
Home Economics and Crafts Sub-Committee
Offers a wide range of opportunities from craft days to cookery demonstrations. Members are encouraged to learn old and new skills and further
opportunities are available to certificate level in many subjects.
Other Appointments and Representatives
Advisors, committee or sub-committee members and volunteers, who contribute to the smooth running of CFWI.
